Application Process & Interviews at AECOM

8.2
8.2 rating for Recruitment, based on 57 reviews
Please describe the interview process and assessments.
My interview was more conversational and I was initially hired on a 6 week paid internship which resulted in full time work.
Graduate, Sydney - 31 Jan 2017
I applied for an undergraduate position initially. The process involved: submission of a CV and Key Selection Criteria, a telephone interview and a face-to-face interview. When I applied for a graduate position, there was no formal process as I applied directly to the local office manager whom I already knew.
Midlevel, Rockhampton - 31 Jan 2017
Applied to a role within the company but in another country from a job advertisement. Got denied from that role and was contacted by HR in the city I am in. Was asked to come in for an interview and perform some psychometric tests. Attended one formal interview and a meet and greet with the team a couple days after. Was offered the role a week after that.

Graduate, Brisbane - 25 Jan 2017
Online game, 2 phone interviews, 2 in-person interviews

Graduate, Sydney - 25 Jan 2017
Behavioural questions, tell us about a time you worked in a team to solve a problem etc. Some technical questions about what I had learnt at uni, and some general questions about how I would describe myself and my interests.
Midlevel, Melbourne - 25 Jan 2017
I was asked about my technical and professional experience. The technical questions were just an opportunity to talk about what experience I had in what areas, ie "Have you had any experience with xx? Tell us about it". The professional questions seemed more aimed at figuring out whether I fit in with the vision for the team, i.e. what roles and opportunities did I want to pursue, what my short and long term goals are, describe a situation where you had to resolve conflict with someone, etc.

I recommend researching how the company will suit your work style, look at expansion past your skills at present and how the company will help you achieve their goals and your personal goals.
Graduate, Melbourne - 27 Jan 2017

Graduate, Townsville - 27 Jan 2017

Graduate, Sydney - 27 Jan 2017
Try as hard as you can to get experience prior to applying. This makes an enormous impact on your ability to be able to respond to the work you may do, as you actually have an idea of what it entails. Also just be yourself and don't try to be someone you aren't, fake people are easy to spot. Plus you'll get caught out if you lie, I haven't but it would be obvious as to those who have experience and those that don't. This is of course not to say you cannot get in without experience. You just realise the value of the experience once you have it and you also gain confidence from your experience if you are good at what you do.
Graduate, Melbourne - 27 Jan 2017
Research the company and know some of their projects
Midlevel, Newcastle - 27 Jan 2017
