The Australian Institute of Superannuation Trustees (AIST) Super Grads program is committed to identifying and developing recent university graduates who genuinely want to make a difference to the quality of retirement for all Australians.

As a Super Grad you will be employed by NGS Super as a Graduate, Quantitative Analyst.

NGS Super is one of the largest superannuation funds dedicated to education and community-focused organisations throughout Australia. It is a public offer fund with over $9 billion in assets.

Around 100,000 members and more than 8,000 participating employers nationally have selected NGS as their choice of superannuation fund.

This is an outstanding graduate opportunity to join NGS Super as a member of the Investment team.

Key responsibilities and tasks include:

  • Research and review investment and financial related data
  • Work with financial models to be used for: forecasting, asset valuation, portfolio construction and risk management. The asset classes include: equities, fixed income, currencies, futures, commodities, derivatives, infrastructure, private equity and debt.
  • Conduct research on investment related topics identified across both macroeconomic areas and specific asset classes.
  • Assisting the investment team to optimise its portfolios and achieve its return objectives by producing reports summarising results
  • Apply advanced statistical methods, such as: Bayesian learning techniques, pattern recognition and outlier detection algorithms, and predictive modelling methods, including decision trees.
  • Reporting – distil complex topics into simple and actionable messages and clear reporting, while providing reliable forecasting.

  • Qualifications at an appropriate level in a relevant discipline (ie, engineering, computer science, engineering, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science or economics)
  • Demonstrated commitment to achieving the needs of members and employers
  • Ability to interpret economic data
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Exceptional critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills

It would be desirable if you have:

  • Interest in the superannuation industry
  • Deep learning approach and some open source libraries such as Tensorflow, Theano, Torch and Lasagne

The Super Grads Program will commence early February 2019. All successful applicants must have completed their studies prior to qualifying for this program, ready to start full time employment in February 2019.

To be eligible to apply to the 2019 Super Grads Program, you will:

  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident at the time of application.
  • Have completed your university studies at an Australian Tertiary University in 2017 or 2018 ready to start full-time employment in early February 2019.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified to complete an online video interview in the first few weeks of January 2019.

Applicants who have progressed to the next stage of the recruitment process after the video interview will be invited to a face to face interview at NGS Super.

It is a condition of employment that background checks, including a National Police Check will be completed prior to the candidate's employment being confirmed with NGS Super.
