Management at Boeing Australia

8.0
8.0 rating for Management, based on 9 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
Management is accessible in the sense that they are very friendly and easy to talk to; but they are incredibly busy, so it's hard to get time with them, and they usually don't have any idea what you are doing and can't really offer praise or recognition as a result.

There seems to be many instances of technical teams managed by non-technical managers, which doesn't work very well. There tends to be a fairly flat structure meaning teams are large and there isn't much time for one-on-one mentoring with your manager, but this varies by team.

My manager is an amazing person who always shows compassion, leadership, and generosity. I am privileged to work for him. Sometimes though, it can be very hard to get time with him, be it one-on-one for a how's-it-going kind of catch up, or even for attention to your work. This can be really challenging at times, and has its consequences.

At Boeing, you have 2 managers. A direct daily manager, and your overall manager. Your daily manager is quite easy to get quality time with in regards to work, however your overall manager can be busy very often.
