Global Management Trainee (GMT) at Carlton & United Breweries
Where do you work?
I work at Carlton & United Breweries, a proud part of the AB InBev family.
What’s your job about?
As a Global Management Trainee, I spend 10 months deep diving into all major functions of the business - ranging from working out of one of our breweries, to sales and marketing, to ZX Ventures - our global disruptive growth organisation. The first part of the program involves rotations ranging from 2 to 6 weeks. The second part of the program involves a 4 month, longer term project within a specific area of the business.
What's your background?
While studying, I co-founded an e-commerce business focused on retailing goods imported from China. Additionally, I also completed a yearlong internship at Coles Supermarkets, working in their commercial buying, and export teams.
What's the coolest thing about being a CUB Graduate?
It doesn’t get much better than working for an international company with the biggest and best beer brands in the world. From a graduate perspective, with so many rotations, as a GMT you gain exposure to all aspects of the business. Throughout the program, I’ve been fortunate enough to work on projects covering topics on renewable energy, to supply chain, to sales, marketing and e-commerce, to name a few.
What are the challenges you face in your job?
Balancing time can be a hurdle- especially when in a shorter term rotation. Preparation and communication with project stakeholders are key to overcoming this.
