Global Management Trainee (GMT) at Carlton & United Breweries
Where do you work?
Carlton & United Breweries, AB InBev – at Southbank, Melbourne.
What’s your job about?
I am in a global graduate program, working as a Global Management Trainee. As a graduate in this program, I get the opportunity to get an in-depth look across various functions of the business, from Marketing to Sales to Operations for a period of 10-months. The projects we do in each of our rotations gives us an opportunity to make a direct impact on the business and influence key decisions.
What's your background?
I grew up in Mumbai, India. I pursued Mechanical Engineering for my bachelors to fuel my passion for knowing how everything works and to have a very strong educational foundation. Post Bachelors, I travelled for a bit before moving to Australia for my higher education. I studied Masters of Mechanical Engineering, again to keep my options open, to be very versatile, and have a strong analytical background. Alongside studies, I worked at many different casual places ranging from being a brand ambassador at the Casino to a bar attendant to a promotional staff. I also worked with 3 different companies on national and international internships and enjoyed working for many NGOs throughout my career. Personally, I love travelling and enjoy being creative.
What's the coolest thing about being a CUB Graduate?
The ability to work alongside some of the most talented people in the industry for a product that everyone is so passionate about. Leaving an impact with every project I pick up even as an entry level graduate is the coolest thing about being a CUB graduate. Additionally, the fact that I get to travel a lot with work is also very cool for a travel enthusiast like me!
What are the challenges you face in your job?
Challenging the status quo has been challenging and through the process, I have identified big opportunities for CUB & AB InBev as an organisation to be more agile, lean, digitally innovative and to be more consumer centric.
