In Australia and Timor-Leste our exciting portfolio includes the Darwin LNG facility in the Northern Territory, the Bayu-Undan gas-condensate field in the Timor Sea, and the Australia Pacific LNG facility in Queensland. We also have the Barossa Offshore Project as well as exploration and appraisal projects off northern Australia including the Greater Poseidon and Greater Sunrise fields.

We are pioneers of LNG technology, operating one of the first LNG facilities in Australia: Darwin LNG in the Northern Territory. Darwin LNG converts gas from the Bayu-Undan field in the Timor Sea into LNG for overseas markets.

Our Engineering and Exploration teams, based in our West Leederville, West Perth and Brisbane offices, have exciting Vacation Work placements for Engineering students in their penultimate year of study. These placements are paid contract positions for three months, commencing late November 2018.

Each placement provides the opportunity to:

  • Work with experts in the field of Operations or Exploration (this may include a site visit to our onshore operations facility)
  • Work on interesting and rewarding onshore and offshore projects
  • Gain experience using the latest software
  • Further develop your collaboration, research, problem solving and presentation skills.

Qualifications – External

To be successful in this role, you must meet the following mandatory requirements:

  • Show a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the Oil and Gas industry
  • Be enrolled in one of the following courses:
    • Penultimate year of Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, ICE, Mechanical or Petroleum engineering) or
    • First year Master of Professional Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, ICE or Mechanical) or
    • First year Master of Engineering Science (Petroleum Engineering); or
    • First year Master of Petroleum Engineering
  • Have a credit course weighted average (minimum 65% and above)
  • Demonstrate compatibility with ConocoPhillips SPIRIT values
  • Demonstrate initiative, with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Be available to work in Perth for the duration of the 3-month placement (November to February, relocation support is not provided).
