About the Program

We understand that the transition from study to full-time work can be challenging. At Datacom, we welcome recent graduates with full-time employment and support in our 12-month Graduate Program.
Our Graduate Program provides graduates with the foundation for a bright future in the Information Technology industry through various learning opportunities and hands on experience.

Some key features of our Graduate Program include:

  • Soft-skill and technical training opportunities - We will provide a comprehensive training program that includes on and off the job training opportunities.
  • Individualized career and development plan - We recognise that there is no one size fits all development program so you will work with our graduate team to develop an individual career and development plan.
  • Two six-month rotations - You will be exposed to broad work experience with rotations into two different business lines. You will gain experience working on complex environments through the various phases of project and support lifecycles. Some of the roles you may perform include: Project Management, Service Management, Technical Support, Technical Project Implementation and Business Analysis.
  • Graduate Project - You will also have an opportunity to work in a small team with other graduates to scope, implement and evaluate a work-based project.
  • Mentoring - You will also be supported with your own mentor.

Our aim is to enable our graduates with the right skills and tools to realize their potential and help them successfully transition into the team.

Positions will commence on Wednesday 29, January 2020 in Canberra.

What you'll bring

As a graduate in our Graduate Program, you are a full-time employee and you can expect placement into one of Datacom's business lines which best suit your skill, preferences and availability.

If you are a self-motivated individual who works well in a professional team, communicates well and seek to continually develop your technical and soft skills then you are the right person for Datacom. You will have a desire to learn and achieve, have an innovative and analytical mind and work well with others.

The Datacom graduates work across the business in technical and non-technical roles. We are seeking graduates with minimum Diploma or Bachelor level qualifications. Our focus is on people with the right attitude. We can teach you our business if you have the right attitude.

All disciplines welcomed and interest in IT is essential. Technical opportunities exist for people with qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Project Management or Business Informatics.

Selection Process

To be considered for the Graduate Program, you must be an AU Citizen or Permanent Resident, due to our client environment. Your application MUST include responses to the questions below (maximum 250 words per question) and your CV. If you do not provide responses to the questions your application will not be considered.

If your application is successful, you will be invited to attend an assessment centre. This process will be conducted over a period of four hours and include an interview, a practical task and a group activity. You will also have the opportunity to meet current Datacom team members and previous graduates throughout the session to answer any questions you may have.
