The Chief Information Officer Group (CIOG), within the Department of Defence, is responsible for ensuring that Defence has a dependable, secure and integrated Single Information Environment (SIE) to support Defence business and military operations.
The defence has one of the largest ICT networks in Australia and support Defence operations around the world.
The Information and Communication Technology Stream takes twelve months to complete and comprises three information technology rotations of four months each. The first of these are undertaken in Canberra with the possibility of travel. This Pathway is open to graduates with tertiary qualifications in ICT.
In each rotation, you will have real tasks and responsibilities, and be fully integrated into the work team to ensure you reach your full potential.
The ideal candidate would be someone who has an understanding and a passion for ICT is enthusiastic, outcomes-focused, has good communication skills, and is committed to their personal and professional development. CIOG is seeking applications from candidates who have a blend of technical (cybersecurity, project management, networking) and soft (relationship management, communication, presentation, leadership) skills which can help them to understand the way CIOG operates in a business environment while focusing on providing ICT solutions to Defence's stakeholders. CIOG places an emphasis on teamwork and complex problem solving by identifying efficiencies and opportunities for innovation.
Salary: $68,442 pa + 15.4% superannuation. Upon successful completion of the program, graduates will advance to APS 4: $76,215 + 15.4% superannuation.
Program: 12 months – 3 x 4 month rotations
