This year I'll be undertaking a Graduate Certificate in Economics. In our first six months we did training in intro to government, essential writing skills, stakeholder management, cultural awareness (which was a favourite for many of us), administrative law, strategic thinking, and economics for non-economists, policy, working in teams, presentation skills. In legal there are also lots of opportunities to attend CLE seminars and training days. Informal training has also been good, because the people are so supportive and they always give you opportunities to challenge yourself.

Training courses range in quality - some are really obvious and basic (stakeholder management) and some are great (law in the public service, cultural sensitivity). We also do a graduate certificate in our second year in economics or management at the University of Canberra.
