Management at Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C)

8.3
8.3 rating for Management, based on 16 reviews
How accessible are managers and do they make good mentors? You may want to address internal communication, performance feedback or praise and recognition.
If asked for, feedback is available regularly. Performance conversations are also built into team schedules. Praise and recognition are common, and I find that people are always recognised if they perform above expectations. Managers are accessible socially and informally, and are happy to provide mentorship if asked.

Varies from manager to manager. Current manager is busy and defaults to minimum of performance conversations and only as deadlines approach, rather than being interested in developing me.

The managers are very accessible, particularly to grads, even at a high level.

I've been happy with my managers so far: One was very smart, an excellent communicator and always took the time to explain simple things despite being very busy. That role also had really good executive managers who were invested in their staff and took time to build positive relationships, but were also fantastic to watch get stuff done in close quarters. The other manager is a wonderful person, but is a different type of manager to what I would be , so less to learn. Both have been excellent communicators, very fair and happy to give praise when warranted.

Depending on the area will depend on how flexible the managers/ EL1/EL2 and SES level are. Usually they are all pretty relaxed and chill and very approachable.

Managers are accessible, although in busier environments you might need to take them time to ask to speak with them. They are good at giving out feedback.
