We are looking for enthusiastic Interns to join our multidisciplinary teams. You will have excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment.
As a GHD Intern, you will also participate in the Smart Seeds Lite program, an affiliate of the Smart Seeds™ innovation competition, which includes:
- team-building activities in a high energy and creative program
- harnessing your problem solving and creative-thinking
- providing a platform to influence the legacy of current leaders by collaborating and developing concepts to solve real urban development challenges in Victoria
We have vacancies for internships between November 2019 and February 2020, in the following disciplines:
- Engineering (Civil, Structural, Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical, Electrical, Geotechnical)
- Environmental and Earth Sciences
- Archaeology
- Planning
- Architecture and Landscape Architecture
- Urban Design
- Property and Construction
- Project Management
- Communications/Public Relations
- Combined Degrees of above disciplines with Law, Economics or Commerce
- Drafting / Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology (Civil Engineering Design) or similar
- Diploma in Workplace Health & Safety Occupational Health & Safety Environmental Management or similar

Pros

The great people, it is a fun place to work. Lots of variety in the work that you do, working for a big company you are able to be challenged and take on bigger projects.
Cons
"Reasonable overtime" is up to 45 hours per week. Not exclusive to GHD, its common in all consultancy environments. Can be a high-stress job
Lots of people, easy to become just a number.
The work is utilisation based - slow periods can be concerning, as you are meant to be hitting utilisation targets
The long working hours when multiple proposals are due on the same day.
My team currently has structural issues re skill levels so that there are very few mid career people to dedicate enough time in developing graduates as the senior/principal engineers are often to busy/expensive to do so.
