Your Opportunity
Background

Our new associate class comprises people with prior experience in financial services as well as those from a variety of industries and professional backgrounds. We look for people who are interested in the financial markets, business and how organizations work. You should be able to demonstrate a track record of success, innovation and creativity in your prior work experience.

Preparation

Our recruitment process is built upon our belief that a candidate’s understanding of the Goldman Sachs culture is as important as the skills and experience she or he brings to the firm. Your objectives should be to gain insight into our culture and clarify why you want to work at Goldman Sachs, what you might want to do at the firm and why you would be well suited to do it.

Interviews

Your first interview with us will be with the regions or divisions you selected on your application. Its purpose is to help us get to know you and determine your suitability for a particular area of our business, and for you to ask questions about us. Your second round interview will be more technical in nature, and we will continue to assess your compatibility with the firm.

The Associate Experience
Initiation

As a new associate, you will be given the tools needed for professional growth and career advancement. You will develop product-specific and function-specific skills and interact closely with senior professionals and clients. The new opportunities and challenges you encounter along the way will prepare you for the next level.

Build Your Network

The associate experience fosters the opportunity to connect with senior business leaders who can help guide your career. Here you will build your professional network and interact with colleagues across divisions and regions. We offer mentor programs, employee networks, clubs and access to external professional organizations.

On The Job

You will quickly become an integral member of the team with your own responsibilities. You will interact directly with clients and work side-by-side with the experts in our firm, supervise analysts and work closely with vice presidents and managing directors.

Ongoing Career Growth
Development

Regardless of which area or business you join, the associate role is a key pipeline for leadership positions. Because Goldman Sachs has a flat organizational structure, it is difficult to identify a typical career path. However, if you’re looking for a new challenge or the opportunity to explore a different business at the firm, we offer a formal mobility process that many of our associates take advantage of.

Training

We created Goldman Sachs University to help you at each stage of your career. New associates often participate in a 10-week induction and training program. We develop programs in a variety of innovative and challenging formats to guide you through your career. Our personalized curriculums are designed to help you find courses for different stages of your career.

Feedback

Associates are formally evaluated as part of the firm’s annual Performance Review Process, which includes a self assessment as well as input from peers, managers and internal business partners. You will also participate in the Personal Development Planning process. Based on formal and informal feedback and your individual interests, this process helps you to establish your career goals and identify developmental opportunities within the firm.

Deadline

We review applications on a rolling basis and encourage you to apply as soon as you are ready because interviews can occur prior to the application period closing. Our goal is to notify you of your status approximately one month after each application period concludes.

Application Periods:
     - Period 1:  July 1 to Sep 15, 2018
     - Period 2:  Sep 16 to Nov 15, 2018
