As a Journalist Intern in Jacobs, your role will involve informing sales material, pursuit teams, market research and analysis with the stories of our people, their values and achievements. About the opportunity

The Journalist Intern will work within the Sales Operations team, which binds our professional sales team to our operations team by developing and supporting winning value propositions with critical evidence. The opportunity will be for a 3-month period where you will be required for 3 days each week.

Partnering with our sales leads and technical specialists you’ll interview people, conduct research and translate important concepts into compelling sales and marketing materials as required—from presentations, capability statements and videos through to complex proposal submissions.

Juggling people and their time, your focus is always on the end goal delivery of the final product. The role requires great time management, ability to work with different personalities, and very strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to plan is a must.

This role provides an excellent basis for any career involving communications, sales marketing, or business development. You’ll learn the corporate environment, commercial constructs, and the relationship-based sales process. At Jacobs you’ll also touch on a wide variety of industries and learn the intricacies across each. We also have many special projects going on that you’ll be able to help out with – most are game-changing within Jacobs and the industry.

About you

  • You must be a current student, or a recent graduate (Masters students strongly encouraged to apply)
  • Your area of focus at University must be in creative writing, English, publishing, editing, journalism, communications or public relations
  • You must have strong written and verbal skills.
  • An eye for detail is essential
  • You are personable and form professional relationships quickly
  • You must be tenacious and have a ‘never give up’ outlook on your day-to-day
  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are advantageous
  • Have the ability to work independently and in a team to learn from another perspective
  • Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian permanent resident
