Pros and cons of working at J.P. Morgan AU

Pros

  • Global exposure, intense and competitive

  • Good people, lots of resources

  • A very good company culture, everyone is welcoming and hardworking. The company puts in a lot of effort to ensure employees are treated well.

  • Working with motivated and intelligent individuals in a well-established company.

  • The opportunities - being able to work for a best-in-class global investment bank means that even as a graduate the resources you have at your disposal are unbelievable. You get to work with some of the best and brightest people. You get to go to New York City for training and see first-hand the beating heart of global commerce. The responsibility you are given even at the most junior level is astounding and ultimately, the opportunities are unparalleled.

Cons

    • Decent amount of pressure

    • Working for such a large company it can sometimes feel like you are a small fish in a big pond, however, I think the firm is good at acknowledging this and actively encourages their junior staff to design their own initiatives or engage in a leadership role in extracurricular programs that are endorsed by the firm.

    • Culture could be better

    • The work-life balance, as is to be expected is demanding. But it's investment banking - you know what you're signing up for.
