Graduate at NSW Government
What attracted you to the NSW Government Graduate Program?
I am attracted to this graduate program as it has given me the opportunity to apply my skill set and knowledge to be part of something bigger and improve the NSW economy for the better. This program also provides a unique opportunity for graduates to be exposed to three entirely different government agencies that give you a greater understanding of the whole of government and the different work being done to improve the community.
What advice would you give a graduate who is thinking about applying for the Program?
My advice would be go for it! This program offers unique and diverse opportunities to graduates. You will definitely learn a lot along the way and be exposed to roles and departments that you would never expect.
What is your current job title and in which Department or agency within the NSW Government sector are you currently placed?
I am currently working in the Public Service Commission as a graduate policy advisor. I am focusing on the Premier’s priority of increasing diversity and inclusion in the public sector through increasing women in leadership, flexible working and other important policies.
What is your favourite part of your role?
My favourite part of this graduate program is participating in the many opportunities available. I get to work on many diverse, large scale and high profile projects that I know will have a positive impact on the community. This includes working on the Premier’s priorities, managing whole of government contracts and reviewing state wide regulatory pricing determinations.
What value have you drawn from your mentor and sponsor relationships?
The mentor and sponsor relationships have been an invaluable network throughout this graduate program. They not only provide professional advice, they also provide personal guidance and support in helping graduates to develop and grow into our full potential. These relationships allow graduates to see their work from a broader perspective at a department-wide level, which can be eye-opening.
What do you do for fun on the weekend?
On weekends, I enjoy travelling and exploring new places with friends. This includes going on spontaneous road trips, hikes, and hunting around Sydney for the best dessert restaurant.
What is your hidden talent?
One of my hidden talents is that I love to film, edit and create videos of my holidays or special events. I am also into photography, as I love capturing special moments that occur in life.
What is your favourite hangout in NSW?
My favourite place to hang out is the beautiful Manly Beach. The ferry ride from the city to the beach is breathtaking. The beach itself has the clearest water.
What is your favourite meal?
If I can only eat one meal for the rest of my life, I would eat ramen because it is so delicious.
