Graduate at NSW Government
What attracted you to the NSW Government Graduate Program?
I was fascinated by the fact that the NSW Government is the largest employer in the southern hemisphere. There are various other reasons as well, such as the variety of projects that a graduate can work on plus work-life balance.
What advice would you give a graduate who is thinking about applying for the Program?
If a graduate is keen to develop their skills in a wide variety of projects and sectors, I would encourage them to apply for this program as you get to work on many different projects and policies in different government agencies ranging from innovation to telecommunication, Service NSW to revenue. There is always an interesting government agency to work for that aligns with a graduate’s interests and passions.
What is your current job title and in which Department or agency within the NSW Government sector are you currently placed?
I am working as an ICT Project Officer at NSW Revenue.
What do you say to people when they ask what you do for work?
I say that I work towards building a better future for NSW and our local communities.
What value have you drawn from your mentor and sponsor relationships?
Both my mentor and the sponsor have helped guided me in realising my professional goals. They have both helped me with their advice whenever I needed it. Each of them has accrued a wealth of professional and personal experience, which I find handy for my development.
What is the best thing about finishing full-time study?
Assignments don't haunt you anymore.
What do you do for fun on the weekend?
Either I travel and explore new places or I invite my friends to my place to taste Prakash’s cuisine.
What are three things you would take with you to a deserted island?
Food, food and food. I’m a massive foodie, so food is all I need to survive.
What is your go to move on the dancefloor?
It would definitely be Gangnam style.
