Who We Are
Santos is an Australian energy pioneer. We have safely and sustainably discovered, developed and delivered natural gas to the people of Australia and Asia for more than 60 years.
With origins in the Cooper Basin, Santos has one of the largest exploration and production acreages in Australia and extensive infrastructure. Our strategy is centred on a portfolio of long-life natural gas and LNG assets. These assets support our aim to be a leading Australian domestic gas supplier and a major LNG exporter supplying clean energy to Asia. We are now proudly and biggest domestic gas producer in Western Australia, and are continuing to strengthen our offshore operations and enhance opportunities across Western and Northern Australia portfolios.
The Vacation Program
Santos recognises the strategic value in recruiting new talent at student and graduate level and provides excellent opportunities for growth and development through our programs.
The Santos Vacation Program is a 12-week structured program that runs from November – February in our Adelaide, Brisbane, and Perth locations. In most cases, students are generally employed into projects in their home locations. In the instance that projects are allocated in an alternate location to the applicant's home location, (often in the Geoscience discipline in particular), Santos will provide appropriate support to those students for the duration of the program in the project location.
Dates for the 2019/20 Vacation Program will run from 25 November – 21 February.
As a Vacation Student, we give you the opportunity to improve your technical skills and enhance your personal development through hands-on experience and defined and challenging project work. At the conclusion of the program, you will deliver a presentation on your project to various stakeholders within the business, and also receive structured performance feedback from your Project Leader.

The large graduate community.
Opportunities to rotate within the company, work interstate, work onsite.
Supportive environment, field roster opportunities.
Field opportunities are made available to new graduates to gain practical experience. A lot of trust is placed in graduates there are many learning opportunities in short spaces of time.
The best thing about working for Santos is that they look after their employees. They understand the benefits of keeping their employees healthy and happy to ensure productivity and efficiency within the workplace.
Rotation plan may not work out to be the best to learn, particularly in the current oil price environment. Flexibility to make changes to a rotation appear minimal.
Lack of security with exposure to the oil price.
CEO level management is very progressive and amazing, sometimes on the way through middle management the plans coming from above don't work because of the old school way some middle management sees things.
External pressure on market conditions and the internal challenges in response to the external environment.
Some of the time tasks are monotonous - but there are always monotonous tasks with any role.
