The Shell Graduate Programme is applicable if you are in your final year or graduate with less than three years of work experience. This programme lasts from 2-5 years depending on whether you will be working in a technical, a commercial business or a corporate functions discipline.

Pros

  • Travel: I am on an expatriate assignment in New Zealand already, only six months into my graduate program. Training, I have access to some of the best training in the world with Shell. Amazing pay. Challenging work.

Cons

    • A high proportion of people involved in making tough decisions, execution of plans usually takes more time.

    • Very large bureaucratic structure increases red tape and slows speed of progress.

    • Large multinational - expect inefficiencies in slow administrative processes

    • Shell is a very reporting/business process fulfilling driven company - feels like decisions are made slowly, often re-worked and unnecessary processes are not eliminated

    • having to go through a number of 'levels' and people to approve things
