Working in the Gippsland Regional Forest and Fire Planning team, we are responsible for the management of 1.6 million hectares of State Forest for a wide range of users. Day-to-day I can be involved in anything from conducting spatial analysis on biodiversity impacts, to processing permit applications for events or research, to visiting recreation sites currently being upgraded, to being involved in firefighting and fuel reduction operations for weeks at a time plus so much more.

Assisted with sowing, in season assessments (establishment counts, plot lengths, disease scores), pulling out weeds''and harvest of plot trials. Worked on a scientific based trial looking at soil acidity at depth as well as growth of Faba beans using inoculants in the HRZ. I have also worked on the communications for a project with two senior researchers. This project involved working with internal and external stakeholders, producing an extensive communications plan and creating collateral.
