Managers are generally very accessible and on the most part they make good mentors. If for any reason a manager is hard to get on with - you still have to remember it's a good experience for you and your professional career, because you can learn to overcome issues and deal with a range of personality types.

My manager is approachable to me. Often though I will ask for work and he will say he's too busy to take time to find me work.

My manager is very accessible, makes sure I have things to do, gives feedback and checks if I need help regularly. He has made an effort to give me tasks that align with my areas of interest.

It depends how high up they are. You have to book time in your calendar with them. Great for feedback.
