4.30 AM

My alarm goes off. I push my one-year-old baby’s foot out of my face and hit snooze.

4.40 AM

My alarm goes off again. As I turn it off, I hear my beloved fiancé’s snoring and wonder how I manage to sleep through that. I roll out of bed and have my first coffee of the day as I unload the dishwasher.

5.00 AM

I wake my partner up and jump on the cross-trainer for an early morning workout – working in an office has made exercise an even more important part of my day.

6.00 AM

I realise my partner is still asleep and this time I wake him slightly more vigorously. It takes him literally 5mins to get dressed and leave the house. I quickly jump in the shower and get ready whilst the kids are still asleep.

7.00 AM

I wake my six years old up, make his breakfast and ask him approximately 486 times to get dressed and put his shoes on.

7.45 AM

My father in law arrives, he’s looking after my one-year-old today. I drop my six years old off at before school care and then head into work. Peak hour traffic sucks but as I sing along to Bon Jovi I appreciate having some time to myself.

8.55 AM

I get to my desk and say good morning to my team before sitting down to check my emails. Today I’m isolating specific data variables from a large database for my first project.

12.30 PM

Time for a well-deserved break! I pop out to grab a cappuccino from the café across the road and then head to the courtyard to meet up with some of the other grads for lunch.

1.00 PM

I head back to my desk and start trying to interpret the data from this morning.

2.30 PM

My supervisor and I have a meeting with the director of my area. We present her with several documents I have prepared over the last week as part of the planning for my project for feedback before being signed off.

3.00 PM

I get back to my desk and begin incorporating my director’s feedback and constructing a Gantt chart and governance structure for the project.

5.00 PM

Home time!

Jessica going home

I race through peak hour traffic to pick my six year old up from after school care.

6.00 PM

I pick my six year old up from after school care and we head into our fabrication workshop to debrief on the day's events with my partner.

6.30 PM

We get home and my sons and I read a story and talk about our day.

7.00 PM

Time for kids showers, I cook dinner and we eat together.

8.30 PM

Kids bedtime, I clean up after dinner, make everyone's lunches for the next day, iron our clothes and finish off a couple of things in the office.

10.00 PM

Bedtime! My life is may be hectic at times but regardless, I love every minute of it!
