This qualification reflects the role of early childhood educators who are responsible for designing and implementing curriculum in early childhood education and care services. In doing so they work to implement an approved learning framework within the requirements of the Education and Care Services National Regulations and the National Quality Standard. They may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff. Under the Education and Care Services National Law (2011) the Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) publishes lists of approved early childhood education and care qualifications and information regarding regulatory requirements here: www.acecqa.gov.au Work Placement Assessment of practical skills will take place in the student's workplace or volunteer work placement in a regulated education/care service as necessary. Work placement continues across all units during a period of at least 240 hours in order to meet the evidence requirements of units or until such time as the student is deemed competent by Assessors. Everyone employed or volunteering in child related work is required by law to hold an Ochre Card. It will therefore be a mandatory requirement to hold an Ochre card in order to complete any work placement. This qualification may be suitable for Apprenticeships.
