About this course

In this course you will develop a broad understanding of human resource (HR) management theories and functions. You will explore the contribution of HR management towards organisation effectiveness and efficiency. You’ll study the fundamental principles underpinning management theory and explore the associated practices in contemporary organisations. The future of management will be considered in light of poignant 21st century issues such as globalisation, corporate social responsibility and change management. Industrial relations in Australia will also be explored, considering the roles of the parties: the tribunals, the state, unions and management. You’ll study collective and enterprise bargaining, negotiation, industrial action and conflict. Throughout the course you will also examine communication theories and processes used to successfully communicate in organisational settings.
