Pros and cons of working at AECOM NZ

Pros

  • Big projects, a variety of people to work with, lots of extra benefits like gym rebates, health and life insurance and various extracurriculars to join.

  • Flexibility of work hours, and the flexibility to choose what I would like to work on

  • Opportunities to work on the biggest infrastructure projects in New Zealand

  • The work culture and the team around me is supportive and very knowledgeable. Everyone gets along well and is quite social. Work varies and there are plenty of big opportunities that come by.

  • Project Variability + Global Reach Company Culture + Environment

Cons

    • As with all big companies, there are a lot of people vying for the same opportunities and there are a lot of steps to complete to achieve simple tasks.

    • Sometimes I haven't had enough work to do and it has been hard to learn design skills as experience depends on what projects are available.

    • Lack of enthusiasm from experienced people to have fun and engage in social activities - can be dispiriting

    • Too much focus on clients and push back on workers

    • Big company, some processes/ procedures can be slow and tedious
