As a junior engineer, I have been given a multitude of opportunities to hone my skills and decide my interests.

Challenging projects, learning a lot.

Being a graduate, my role and day-to-day responsibilities are as a functional design support for my team and to deliver upon tasks' set deadlines. While this sometimes offers the ability to learn and develop, most tasks are purely tasks. I have experienced a lack of learning and development focus within my role.

I like the electrical design project I've been given recently; it's getting me to learn lots of different things (e.g. single line diagrams, using PowerCAD software, control schematics). But I personally really hate the work I get for the current hazardous area classification project.

I work two days a week ' during university I come around 8am so that I can finish earlier. Since I come in earlier than my project manager on Monday, I call her on Friday to discuss what she would like me to complete in the two days.

There has been a wide range of exposure to so many different projects, and I have therefore learnt so much in such a short space of time.

As a heritage consultant, I am usually working my way through parts of our most recent heritage assessments or providing advice and assisting fellow colleagues in other departments with their heritage related questions.

My role is to do the technical design of bridges and civil structures. It is a complex role but is often very rewarding.

My work is usually interesting and varied with multiple projects at once, but sometimes there are some less exciting things that just need to be done as with any job.

Not necessarily what I want to do forever (not their fault) but my team is encouraging and helpful; they trust me to complete work. There isn't a graduate rotation so completing designs for major companies from the get-go is exciting.

A good mix of fieldwork mostly in regional Victoria reporting in the office and fieldworks planning.

I can see that the work I do has meaning and contributes to the community and society's infrastructure. I have been given the opportunity to work independently and am responsible for key deliverables. Being entrusted with important tasks so early on as a graduate is a great feeling and I'm not being given menial, boring things to do around the office!

My role involves assisting in project management, coordination and communication on allocated projects. Some of my day-to-day responsibilities include maintaining project controls, registers, liaising with stakeholders, reporting, meetings and writing minutes.

As an intern, the roles vary quite a lot. They are sometimes really interesting, however sometimes are quite tedious and not related to my field.

Day-to-day typically includes data analysis and drawing insights from customer data to solve problems. This can be an interesting or hair-tearing exercise depending on the day, but all are fulfilling to complete and output a plan of attack.

The main reason I am satisfied with the work I do is because I love the market that I work within. Any dissatisfaction comes from the feeling sometimes that my day-to-day project responsibilities don't make as much of an impact on the wider community, particularly relating to rural and regional communities.

I am given responsibilities to work on all sorts of projects of different shapes and sizes, and often given deliverables that I am personally responsible for.

The days that I am busy I am quite satisfied with what I am doing.

I help out the structural team on large and small projects. For a large project, I will take on a smaller piece of work which might include assisting with modelling, design, reports and project management. When I work on a small project, I have more opportunity to be directly involved with the design process.
