Culture at Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO)

People seem passionate about their work. The workplace is very supportive of work/life balance.

The office is full of friendly, passionate people, hardworking but also not too stressed. Always happy for a chat, especially about their work. There aren't too many after hours activities, but I feel there are enough without it taking all of your free time up.

Culture in my area is good. People are casual and friendly. I receive good communication and support from my supervisor when working together on the particular project. A lot of flexibility with work hours, as well as flex time if working over time. No expectation to do work outside of office hours. Strong social environment amongst other graduates and previous graduates. Group lunches with other colleagues and an inviting atmosphere.

There is no after hours culture at my company, but the culture at work is one of working together and helping each other out. I think there are areas of the business where this might not be as apparent, but I try to interact with everyone with an open mind and friendly manner and that works 9 times out of 10.

From what I have experienced, the company's culture is one that is extremely supportive and heavily promotes the values of diversity, equity and inclusion for all. Teamwork has been an integral part of the groups I have worked with and the environment at ANSTO is not one where you get ahead by putting others down. Socialising and having a good work-life balance is also very important at ANSTO. The company has dozens of social clubs, social and networking events and sporting teams, including a pool, gym and soccer field all on site.

I have many friends at work, not just in the graduate group. There is always some casual or friendly competitive sport happening at lunch.
