We've come a long way in 65 years of operation in Australia. On top of a strong underlying business, having been selected to deliver the next generation of advanced anti-submarine warships, the JORN Phase 6 radar upgrade and sustainment program and as the tier 1 F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program partner, the future is bright for our more than 3,500 employees.

It's a great time to join us and a great place to start your career.

In terms of our culture, it's inclusive and safety focused. We call it an 'everyone culture'. For us that means ensuring that the voices and talents of every employee are valued and that everyone has a sense of belonging. It also means providing a family friendly, flexible and supportive place to work.

Enjoy our culture as part of our graduate program and apply your talent where it counts.

Depending on your degree, you may be considered for adjacent disciplines that enables flexibility throughout the graduate program.

We are looking for graduates in the following disciplines, in various locations across Australia:

  • Engineering

Pros and cons of working at BAE Systems AU

Pros

  • Interesting projects, supportive leadership, great focus on training and self-improvement.

  • My team is very capable and willing to help.

  • The breadth of experiences I get to have and contribute to - no photocopying and fetching coffee here!

  • Very good industry training related to work solving real-world problems - the opportunity to work on significant platforms/systems/projects for Defence

  • Meaningful, challenging and exciting work.

Cons

    • A little bureaucratic at times, things take a while to happen.

    • Not much naval architectural work, considering I applied for the graduate naval architect position

    • The company is very big and has many different departments spread over many buildings/sites so understanding the business is difficult.

    • Whilst position is secure, work taskings / scope of role can be flexible - whilst this provides wider opportunities, often re-settling into a new/additional role/responsibility can be a challenge at times

    • Not too many travel opportunities
