Very friendly team who look out for each other.
Graduate, Port Hedland - 13 Feb 2019
After work, it is nice being part of a 'community' so to speak, as there are a large number of grads that live out here in the Mackay/ Central Queensland region.
Graduate, Moranbah/ Dysart (site based at Peak Downs Mine) - 11 Feb 2019
Varies vastly by site and department. Across HSE as a whole, employees feel overworked and in need of additional resources (both people and money), are jaded and complain of complex systems and processes. Graduate culture is very social and provide good support network. BHP is big on pushing for inclusion and diversity, and are making very positive in roads (especially regarding flexible work), however still hear of too many stories of harassment and bullying.
Graduate, Moranbah - 11 Feb 2019
Supportive and understanding line managers who actively support development and flexible working arrangements. Flexible hierarchy that allows me to decide when I need to speak to someone without needing to follow the chain of command for the sake of it. Coworkers socialize together regularly.
Graduate, Roxby Downs - 11 Feb 2019
There is room for improvement between sites and within my own site. Some politics make it difficult to raise ideas
Graduate, Dysart - 11 Feb 2019
There is great out of hours socialising. Residing in Roxby Downs has made my life more social, rather than less. There are events on every weekend that the whole town attends such as local sport and markets.
Graduate, Roxby Downs - 11 Feb 2019
Team culture is good both inside and outside the office - have events as a team on an infrequent basis to celebrate special occasions. Team (6-7 people) reports to supervisor who reports to superintendent. Work strongly as a team to get work done given the type of work we do.
Graduate, Roxby Downs - 11 Feb 2019
My team doesn't have the greatest overall culture inside/ outside work hours which is a big shame, but would say it's probably isolated to my team- the teams I interact with have the most brilliant cultures.
Graduate, Moranbah - 11 Feb 2019
Really great culture both on site and off. I have found support and friendships in places I guess I didn't expect to. We have a diverse team and I fell as though people make an effort to make sure everyone feels included. It is safe to speak and we are always looking for ways to be co-creative and self-led.
Graduate, Mine Site (Mackay/Moranbah) - 09 Feb 2019
The company ensures it has campaigns and active leadership in place to ensure a safe culture
Graduate, Perth - 08 Feb 2019
On site when working 12 hour days with the same people you get to know each other and get along well. The culture is very accommodating and friendly, many of the senior personnel were grads here also, so they understand and can empathize with our situation. Various team days are organized to suit a range of interests. People are extremely approachable and go out of their way to help.
Graduate, Perth / Port Hedland - 08 Feb 2019
Really good culture in the office and outside, lots of opportunities to spend time outside of work with team members
Graduate, Port Headland - 08 Feb 2019
My company is trying very hard to improve its culture, most of the people in management I come across have very good people skills and are genuinely trying to build stronger, better team relationships. My team is very close, and works well together, we have had a few movements over the past couple of months and people a lot in very well. After hours, we don't speak d as much time as we used to together but a lot of the extraverts have moved on to different positions.
