Managers are by and large knowledgeable and supportive. The performance management framework has recently been refreshed and the organisation is still adjusting to this.

The managers that I have had are very accessible - door is always open. They have provided timely and considered feedback.

Immediate managers are very accessible, however it can be more difficult to interact with more senior managers.

Based on my experience, managers always make an effort to interact with employees even during busy periods. My managers have shown interest not only in my work but also my long-term development with respect to technical & non-technical skills and knowledge, despite only being in the team for a 6-month rotation. Performance feedback is handled professionally. A job well done is recognised within the unit, division, group or the whole department depending on the nature and magnitude of work. A separate mentoring program is also available to all staff members.

It depends on the manager. There are great managers out there and some not so great. It depends on who you make that connection with.
