Please describe the training programmes at your company and tell us what skills you've picked up.
Graduates are given extensive training both on the job and formal.

There's a week long induction program for grads, and then scattered throughout the year, there are training sessions on soft skills as well as technical skills depending on where you work. There's also some unique things like getting to work on the Budget and helping out at Parliament House on Budget Day.

Informal training (on-the-job training) is excellent, with junior staff given a great deal of freedom to pursue solutions in their designated policy areas. There is limited formal training on offer.

Formal training is not extensive. The best training is doing the job and getting feedback along the way.

Do provide generalist training and policy discussions are held to encourage an exchange of ideas from different Groups within Treasury. Various training courses are offered regularly.

Most valuable is the on the job training you get.

Comprehensive training programmes, particularly for graduates, ranging from technical trainings (in various disciplines - economics, tax, superannuation, law, policy etc.), personal and professional development courses, and wellbeing trainings. Some of the skills I have picked up - being resilient, how to manage, influence and accept change, and how to communicate with influence.

The training programmes could be improved, but the philosophy of training on the job is quite effective.
