What's your job about?
DXC Technology is the world’s leading independent, end-to-end IT services company. My areas of responsibility cover a wide range of marketing activities that support our sales team and position DXC to the market.
My role varies day to day. I work on various campaigns such as events/tradeshows, social media posts, paid advertising, digital marketing and content such as white papers and success stories. I get to see many aspects of marketing and get involved with many various projects.
What's your background?
I was born in Essex in the UK but moved to Australia when I was young. I have been in Brisbane ever since and completed primary and secondary school here. I did my Bachelor of Business at Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane and was lucky enough to be able to participate in an exchange semester to the University of Minnesota in the U.S.A. That was most definitely the most memorable experience of my life and a highlight of my degree. I was initially hired into DXC under the graduate program and was able to experience a few aspects of the business and settled into marketing as it was exactly what I wanted to do. I have been in the marketing team full time for about 18 months.
Could someone with a different background do your job?
I think you would need some sort of business background to do my job as a lot of basic marketing concepts are taught at university. I have however been able to learn extensive knowledge during my time with the team, which I would never have got at university.
What's the coolest thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is being able to learn so many skills and work with so many different people. It is so exciting to hear that the marketing activities you have been involved in have helped win business or see campaigns you have been involved in out in public.
What are the limitations of your job?
The limitations of my job include having to work under pressure often to meet deadlines. You need to keep yourself very organised or otherwise the workload may get on top of you.
