An active diversity and inclusion council

I am strongly against objective diversity, and Ericsson does a lot of it. Hiring a less qualified woman over a more qualified man simply due to gender is highly degrading and does not bring any benefit to the business as these people in the past have been more likely to leave due to boredom as the business is less suited to them. This is a fundamental flaw in many companies attempting to balance the gender gap. Higher people based on merit and competency! This should be priority 1! Other than this, other diversity factors seem to be treated correctly.

Very committed, but need more promotion about it

Recruitment equally

Ericsson has a strong focus on diversity for women but there isn't as much of a focus around LGBT and minorities. I guess this is because of the industry where lack of women is a big issue. The leadership team is very anglo-male so it sometimes seems like they do not practice what they preach.

The company is extremely dedicated towards diversity, and I had the pleasure of working in diversity initiatives. Graduate recruitment always secures a 50:50 gender mix. Many initiatives are carried out throughout the year and the workforce is constantly kept up-to-date about this. Retention has been a slit issue. I can see that child care and maternity leave policies are also excellent. working from home really helps parents with small children.

Due to flexible hours, we are pretty good in how we handle child care etc. However due to the nature of the industry it is a male-focused business. There are programs in place to address this via a Diversity Council but I have not been directly involved with these.

Our company has a large focus on equality within the workplace and this is evident within development and retention programmes such as the FUEL program, and there is also a focus on diversity in recruitment efforts.

The company is committed to improve these numbers, however I do not see the actual work getting done.

Diversity in every aspect is encouraged here which is great. This is largely due to the Diversity & Inclusion society

Ericsson really values diversity, it is a core company value and one of the reasons I preferred Ericsson over other employers.

They comment on diversity a lot, definitely a lot of talk and comms, but no action.

What does your company do to attract applicants from less privileged backgrounds?
They are apart of a couple of programs and I constantly see us hiring from different backgrounds.

There is a career seekers program where they get people who are refugee's internships in the company. Also during the graduate recruitment they try to get more women to apply to the company.
Graduate, Sydney - 16 Oct 2017
Runs a great program with Career Seekers to provide internships for refugees without Australian work experience. I have seen 3 out of 6 such recruits secure permanent positions. This is a really commendable initiative.

Ericsson is a supporter of CareerSeekers Australia which works to place asylum seekers looking for skilled employment within Australia.
