Constantly changing, always learning, some monotonous and mundane tasks (substantive testing), but you're never stuck doing the same thing over and over again. Once you learn something, you start teaching it to the next group.

Currently I am leading a workstream on a large project in the health sector, working with lots of consultants and graduates; and senior managers and directors. I prepare documents, run meetings and interviews, meet with internal and external stakeholders, present at forums and complete administrative tasks.

As a consultant I liaise with our administration staff and complete the first review of their work. I assist the Senior staff with completion of projects, answering client queries, drafting advice, assisting with compliance etc. Some things i have autonomy on, while other times I provide drafts which are reviewed by between 1 - 3 people. I manage the client accounts in terms of billing and ensuring we keep track of work completed. I liaise with foreign offices to ensure work which needs their input is completed.

Audit of financial statements

Client interactions calls/meetings/interviews to find out about that organisation's processes and set up expectations, document analysis, using our analysis to provide observations and recommendations for the client

Organisational change management, organisational design, etc. Working day to day on stakeholder management and engagement, work product design, project management activities.

Depending on the client work can either be very fulfilling or very slow

Drafting emails to be reviewed, liaising with clients to gather information

EY is pursuing a lot of transformational projects that are really interesting from an outcome perspective; however quite resource intensive, and often means you are doing a lot of mundane administrative tasks as a junior rather than learning technical skills.

I perform both quantitative and qualitative analysis on matters of market and credit risk. This may involve anything from developing a model in code to perform typical audit controls-testing work (the latter of which I'm not very fond of). My main issue is that my team is supposedly "Actuarial" and yet nothing we do corresponds to the traditional actuarial concepts that I spent four years of my life vigorously studying at uni.

I like the work that I do, but most of the time I feel pressured to do more in less time.

Varied based on projects. However ownership of work is encouraged.

Responsibilities at the graduate level are to perform delivery work based on what the managers/partners sell to clients. Delivery work for me has mostly involved writing documentation, coordinating meetings, and performing calculations on Excel.

Updating excel spreadsheets constantly. Reading up on tax legislation and tax rulings.

Working in the Economics team, I do work in many different areas across specific economics, regulation and policy related engagements. This requires strong report writing and modelling skills.
