Could you answer the questions of tomorrow, today?

As technology transforms the way we all live and work, your success will be defined by your mindset as well as your skillset.

When you have the right mindset, you are better able to adapt, lead and manage through change. The right mindset puts you in control of your growth, career path and future as you continue to learn and acquire new skills. Your curiosity, open-mindedness and enthusiasm will help to shape your future and ours.

Here at EY, you'll focus your intelligence and imagination on the most crucial, complex issues facing business, government, and society today. With access to on-demand learning, formal training, coaching and real time feedback to help shape your career and prepare you for the future.

We bring extraordinary people, like you, together to build a better working world.

The exceptional EY experience. It's yours to build.

As a Co-Op with EY you'll be able to add value to your clients and shape your career as a professional. From entrepreneurial start-ups to multinationals, we'll guide you on how to help our clients manage risk, address issues and capitalise on opportunities. And, we'll give you exposure to some of the largest clients and most interesting projects, both locally and globally.

When it comes to finding out what a global organisation's like, nothing compares to working there. During the Co-Op Program, you'll work with our clients, access our learning resources and gain experience similar to that of a first-year graduate. You will participate in our extensive training to build your technical and soft skills throughout the year. Our Co-Op Program allows you to work with us for between nine and twelve months before beginning your final year at university.

You'll enjoy the support of a 'buddy' to help you settle in and a counsellor to help you plan your development. You'll have your own areas of responsibility and may even be offered a full-time position with us after you graduate.

Our Melbourne Co-Op Program will commence in early 2021.

If you're passionate about a career in professional services and external audit, we encourage you to apply for our Assurance or Advisory Co-Op Programs. We're interested in talented students who are studying or majoring in accounting or technology.

To be successful in the application process, you'll need to be highly motivated with a genuine interest in working with clients to handle complex issues and resolve challenges. You're team focused with strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. You'll work with clients as soon as you start so you'll also need to be a confident communicator and passionate about client service excellence.

To ensure you match your interests and career goals, we encourage you to research our service lines before applying.

Pros and cons of working at EY AU

Pros

  • The people and the opportunities for growth. We are known as the 'friendly firm' and it couldn't be more true. Our people are also made great because of the incredible mentoring programs we have embedded into our culture. There is also so much opportunity to move around in the company and challenge yourself. It's made clear that your career here is whatever you want it to be.

  • Global network, unlimited access to online training, emphasis on personal development.

  • The people Lots of social events.

  • Working with people from all different backgrounds on engagements that benefit society.

  • Range of experiences.

Cons

    • Big employer = hard to navigate takes a while to build your own brand.

    • Long hours, pressure.

    • It can be quite disempowering and impersonal, and you often do not have a say in the engagements or projects that you work on; and are allocated into long term projects with little consultation.

    • Being shared across ACG and not being able to focus more on interest areas.

    • I feel like there is nothing distinguishing it from its competitors. Also working for such a big company gives me the impression that I'm not making any real impact. I also can't relate to most of the company - my team is too specialised.
