Team environment. Senior management and partners sit amongst the rest of the staff which promotes vast collaboration at the highest level. Social events are always held inside and outside work hours.

Organisation as a whole has a great culture in terms of social events, supporting international events (i.e. mental health week, r u ok day, international womens/mens day) which involve the whole company. Hierarchy and structure are in place although you get the opportunity to work directly with Partners on some jobs, rather than just with managers.

Social amongst managers and below

It's not great. There is very little time for developing people, you are thrown in the deep end with little to no guidance and expected to swim or know how to find a life raft. As far as socialising, it is very cliquey. The different service lines rarely interact with each other and despite hot desk seating there are areas of our office that are very clearly occupied by different service lines. This also occurs outside of hours and the people who self-identify as "inclusive" are the first ones to make you feel uncomfortable and excluded.

There is a social club that organises events, and there are lots of events created outside of the club as well such as drinks for the whole office as well as just for audit. these events are a good opportunity to catch up with colleagues outside of work, especially since you don't see colleagues often working out at client sites. The hierarchy is pretty intense, as grads are considered much lesser than those one year above them, and this considers up the levels. However, the onus is on the individual as to whether they patronise people in accordance with their respective authority. People on the same level tend to be very close and people always stick with their "grad group". Teamwork is not as high as what I would have thought from what is a very team-based occupation. Some teams work really well together, others appear to just tolerate each other. I think it is very dependent on the individual, some people are really great team players, others are more difficult to work with and less accepting of different/interesting(?) personalities. The firm emphasises being authentic and being yourself at work, but I think in practice often people are forced to edit their personalities to be appropriate for the audit room or a particular audit team. I find it difficult often to be myself without feeling judged

After hours: - Grant Thornton has an amazing social club. We have monthly social club events. On occasion the social club has given the power for the employees to vote and choose the monthly social club event. Past social club events include going to AFL games, Basketball Games, Big Bash, Go-Karting, Friday night drinks in the city. This enables all service lines within the firm to socialise amongst each other. - Additionally, to social club events, we also have audit events where the audit service line gets together to celebrate achievements, deadlines and catch up as a team. In the Office: - Grant Thornton has a strong in office company culture. Every employee at the firm is assigned a direct Partner & Manager Coach that assists with Career progression and also offers an avenue for the employee to discuss personal issues they are having. Employees have coffee catch ups with their manager every four weeks and every six weeks with both the manager and partner. From a personal perspective, this makes me feel valued as a team member of the firm as the manager and partner take time out of their busy schedules to support me. - As I work in a mid-tier firm, I have been able to get to know all my team on a personal. From mid management all the way to the Partner level. Having strong team relationships enables me to speak openly and honestly, and allows me to discuss my ideas and thoughts on an engagement no matter who I am working with.

Great culture, including a diverse and supportive working environment. We can work long hours, but the company promotes flexibility and social interaction.

Office meme emails and general friendly banter makes for a great environment. Pretty big drinking culture, but if that's not your thing don't worry, not everyone goes.

The culture at Grant Thornton is amazing, most of the people are helpful and willing to teach

The culture in Grant Thornton Melbourne's Corporate Tax team is exemplary. In particular, there is very little hierarchical structure where managers and partners are approachable for questions, or simply to chat. The junior group often go together for coffee or meals, during work hours and after work, and are a welcoming group.

Good bonding with my immediate team members. Social events every now and then. Drinks each Friday to give an opportunity for colleagues to unwind.

Social life among colleagues is great, everybody is super friendly and we often go for drinks and do stuff together after work/on weekends. Everybody is super friendly and gets along well, even the partners get involved
