Founded in 2004, McGrathNicol is a dynamic advisory firm trusted by blue chip clients to partner with them to devise and implement pragmatic solutions for complex business issues.

We are currently seeking a Data Analytics Analyst, based in our Sydney office. Working as part of the Analytics team within our Forensic division, you will be responsible for performing data analytics for a variety of national projects, such as:

  • Applying analytics to detect indicators of fraud;
  • Analysing financial transactions;
  • Developing custom reporting dashboards and visualisations;
  • Building scripts to process large volumes of data; and
  • Building models for descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics.

You will work with our clients to understand their requirements, collect data from relevant sources, perform data cleansing and validation tasks as well as develop customised analysis, tailored to each project.

To be eligible to apply for this role, you must hold a bachelor's degree in a STEM field (or be due to graduate by the end of 2018) and possess the following:

  • Experience writing SQL;
  • Ability to work with large data sets;
  • Strong problem solving abilities; and
  • A relevant programming language (e.g. Python or R); or a background performing statistical analysis.

Candidates with basic accounting skills, machine learning and/or experience using Tableau or other analytics software will be well regarded.
