We are a media intelligence software company. Our software tracks any relevant information out there (we call it Outside Insight), analyses it and makes sense of it which then enables our clients to stay on top of billions of online conversations, extract relevant insights, and use them to strategically manage their brand and stay ahead of their competition.

Meltwater was founded in Norway back in 2001 with a capital of just 15 000 USD. We quickly became the leaders of media monitoring in Europe and then decided to conquer the US market, with the move of our headquarters to San Francisco (where else should a tech company go?) in 2006. And we did conquer the US! At the end of 2006, we stepped foot in Australia and set up our Sydney office. Then added Melbourne and Brisbane and we now have over 100 employees in Oz! Globally, we have grown into 60+ offices on 6 continents and have more than 25 000 clients who use the Meltwater media intelligence platform. With over 1500 employees worldwide, Meltwater is dedicated to personal, global service built on local expertise.

And we’re not going to stop the growth any time soon!

Here's how it works:

You start as a Media Sales Consultant. Here, you'll learn all the ropes of business to business sales and become an expert on our platform, media intelligence and develop all of your best business acumen. This is where every Meltwater director started. How quickly you progress, that is really up to you as we promote based on merits, not longevity. On average, you’ll be in this role for about 12 months but we have had awesome legends who were promoted only after a couple of months.

Sales Manager. Here, you'll be a part of recruitment, training and managing a team. You'll be responsible for both team and individual targets and you'll act as a mentor for our up-and-coming.

Managing Director. This is true leadership. You'll be responsible for the development of the whole Client Acquisition team and you'll be reporting to board and group management.

Meltwater values hiring on potential rather than experience. Rest assured, we'll ensure you're fully prepared and geared for success. We have lots of training and development in place in both media intelligence and all things sales! The training doesn't stop here – throughout your management program you'll constantly be mentored by senior staff.

We do offer Graduate placements and opportunities, although we do not have a formal Graduate program.

  • It can sometimes be stressful when you're trying to achieve things never done before.
  • Can be stressful, you have a lot of responsibility.
  • There is not much to complain about, besides my 4.30 am wake-up + 6.00 am start, but I get to watch the sunrise over Sydney Harbour and finish at 1, so it evens out!
  • I wouldn't say things are worse than others, you need to set your expectations of what 'work-life' will be like, and what it takes to be successful and develop your skills through personal development. Hard work is something you should expect from any business and at Meltwater, you can expect to work hard and will need to put in the effort to be a success however the rewards are so sweet, it'll be worth it. From career development and learning new skills very quickly to international trips and earning some really good $ off the back of the work you put in, you can't go wrong. Expect to work hard and expect to be challenged and push yourself.
  • Trying to prove yourself in a role where there is no target to beat or double or beat others in.
