Application Process & Interviews at SA Power Networks

Online application followed by a panel interview. Process was quick and easy and the interview allowed to present yourself across to the key members of the selection panel.

Quick process, one application and one interview

The interview process consisted of an online application and one face-to-face interview.

I provided a cover letter and resume online and was then asked to attend an interview. After a few weeks I was offered the position, pending a driving history check.

Past history, experiences, technical question in regards to your knowledge learned through university, knowledge of the company, why you wanted to join the company, what you can bring etc.

Few technical questions, focussed on interpersonal skills and problem solving

Some technical questions which were designed to test my ability to think creatively under pressure. Questions about attitude to safety and to customer service, and questions about my knowledge of the industry and company.

During the interview, I was asked questions about myself, the company and why I wanted a position on the Engineering Graduate Program.

Ensure you have examples of good teamwork and problem solving

Have a good understanding about the company and what works they are involved in. Importantly, understand yourself why you applied to join the company and how you value add.

My advice for candidates applying to this company is to be yourself and be prepared.

Get involved with the vacation program in third year and keep the contact details of your leader or someone you worked closely with - it is important to have someone within the company that the recruiters can talk to about you! Get to know the industry and keep in touch with developments i.e. by joining EESA and going to the talks. Do some extra-curricular activities through uni to develop soft skills.
