What's your job about?

TechnologyOne produces enterprise software and I make instructional videos to help customers use the software. For each video, I cut unwanted sound out of the narration and then I use video production software to make the video. I follow a script, called a story board. I get to create motion graphics, which is a lot of fun.

What's your background?

I grew up in Rockhampton. I found out that a temp position was available in my team, and so I applied. From there I received a lot of help to obtain this graduate role from my team leader.

Could someone with a different background do your job?

Yes. There are many paths to my job. All you need is related experience or a related qualification in the field of writing, technology, education, or motion graphics. To do well in my role, the ability to work well in a team is valuable. Time management and strong communications skills are also important.

What's the coolest thing about your job?

I love creating custom graphics and animating them.

What are the limitations of your job?

I am under pressure to get a lot done – there are challenges, like in any job.

3 pieces of advice for yourself when you were a student...

• Always do what you enjoy. Everything is difficult; it takes passion to give you the strength to get through it.
• Don't focus on how others are doing compared to you; appearances can be deceiving and you need to focus on you.
• Be your own cheerleader and give yourself a break.
