Students are encouraged to study performing arts units during their senior school years. Private tuition in performing arts is also encouraged. Entry to this course is by audition and interview. Students should follow the audition requirements for this course as outlined on the CQUniversity website.

To be eligible for entry into this course, applicants must have:

• A completed Bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian University or college, or equivalent; or
• A completed CQUniversity Graduate Diploma of Information Systems, or equivalent; or
• A completed CQUniversity Graduate Diploma of Information Technology, or equivalent.

English Language Proficiency Requirements:

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa or United States of America, you are required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University.

Applicants are required to provide evidence of completion of:

• a secondary qualification (Year 11 or 12, or equivalent), or
• Bachelor level qualification study for a period of at least 2 years full time with a minimum overall GPA 4.0

completed within Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, South Africa, Ireland, or United States of America.

If you do not satisfy any of the above, you will need to undertake an English language proficiency test and achieve the following scores:

• An International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic) overall band score of at least 6.0 with a minimum 5.5 in each subset; or
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Requires 550 or better overall and minimum TWE score of 4.5 (Paper Based Test), or 75 or better overall and no score less than 17 (Internet Bassd Test); or
• Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) - Requires an overall score of 54 with no sub-score less than 46; or
• An Occupational English Test with Grades A or B only in each of the four components.

English test results remain valid for no more than two years between final examination date and the date of commencement of study, and must appear on a single result certificate.

Prospective students must satisfy at least one of the following criteria to enrol in this course:

• A completed bachelor degree in any discipline from an Australian university or college or equivalent plus three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) relevant work experience, or
• A completed honours degree in business from an Australian university or college or equivalent plus three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) relevant work experience, or
• A completed CQUniversity Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Business Administration or equivalent, plus three years of full-time (or equivalent part-time) relevant work/managerial experience, or
• Students with no formal qualification but with a minimum of five years of managerial or professional work experience (places are limited and will be at the discretion of the MBA Director)
• Students are to submit an up to date curriculum vitae or resume that provides details of work experience, positions held, primary duties and length of employment.

NOTE:

• Prospective students should include a one page statement as to the relevance of this course to their future career.

• Students who have English as a second language (international or domestic students born outside of Australia, Canada, NZ, UK, Ireland, South Africa or USA), will need to meet English language proficiency requirements. Students must hold a vocational qualification and must have recent and relevant industry experience. Students must also have access to people in the workplace so that training sessions can be delivered for assessment purposes, this does not need to be a commercial workplace and can be any business or not for profit organisation where staff members require training to undertake specific tasks. It is recommended that students have sound language and literacy skills, and at least basic word processing abilities. Students will also be required to have access to a computer with access to the internet.

STEPS is designed for students who do not already hold an undergraduate qualification. If you already hold an undergraduate qualification, please contact the STEPS admin team who can advise you on possible study options.

If you were not born in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, Ireland, South Africa or the USA, please note that STEPS does not meet the English Language Proficiency requirements for CQUniversity undergraduate courses. You will be required to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements set by the University prior to admission to an undergraduate course.

Applicants must:

• be at least 18 within an academic year of enrolment
• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or holder of a humanitarian visa
• reside in Australia.

Prior to enrolment, applicants are required to:

• complete a diagnostic entrance test covering personal circumstances, computing competence, numeracy and literacy
• participate in an individual interview.

The results of the diagnostic entrance test guide the planning of an individual study plan to meet the entry requirements for the CQUniversity undergraduate course of choice.

An applicant may be considered for admission to candidature for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy if the person holds:

a) a Masters degree either by research or with a substantial element (typically one-third) of research work within it, from a university or any other approved institution

b) a Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline with first class or second class honours conferred by a university or any other approved institution

c) a Bachelor degree in an appropriate discipline in addition to completion of the CQUniversity Graduate Certificate in Research with an average of distinction level of achievement, or

d) alternative qualification/s and/or experience deemed by RHDC to be of equivalent scope and standard to those listed above.

The Doctor of Philosophy is a course of supervised research and study leading to the submission of a thesis which makes a contribution to knowledge. The course is governed by the Research Higher Degree Course Rules Policy and Procedure which provide details regarding all aspects of admission, progression, submission and examination of the thesis.

Students are required to possess either

1) an undergraduate degree; or

2) five years experience in a safety science related role in upper or middle management; or

3) three years experience in a safety science related role and a Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Work Health and Safety.

Students applying on the basis of experience may be required to provide evidence of writing skills.
