Promotions are based on merit, there are no time milestones you have to reach before you can be promoted.

Allens has many pro bono clients and pro bono work is given the same priority and recognition as billable work. Also Allens chooses ethical and environmentally friendly suppliers wherever possible.

There are a lot of opportunities to attend training, interesting presentations and social functions. The company is very engaged with the community and we are encouraged to be involved in programs such as the Homeless Persons Legal Service.

Women and LGBTI are very well supported. Very low ethnic diversity.

Involved in corporate transactions including private and public M&A and capital raisings. Have the opportunity to get involved in project management and significant client contact.

They are easily accessible and approachable. Generally very good at giving constructive and positive feedback.

Great location. We still have offices and not open plan which is great. Dress code is corporate but you don't have to wear a tie which is great.

Process included an application, online assessments including psychological tests, two interviews (including an assessment interview). Many questions related to commerciality and how I am able to translate legal studies into a commercial environment. Read up on commercial news, stay up to date with commercial law, and try to understand what law means in a commercial context.

Pay is high compared to mid-tier firms but seems pretty average amongst top tier firms. Taxis after 7.30 in winter, 8.30 in summer. Cooked dinners at 7.30 each night by professional chefs. Wine club and sports club with various events through out the year. Plenty of networking events, such as comedy shows, dinners, and lunches. Professional bodies membership fees paid for.

Weekly sessions on different aspects of the company's business, learnt practical skills to apply on the job

Generally 9-6.30, but when you are busy you are expected to work all hours including weekends to get the work done.

Allens has a footprint committee, there are lots of fundraisers and other endeavours (e.g. Meat free Monday, recycling, Earth hour)
