Applications for course credit

Applicants with a Bachelor Degree or Graduate Certificate in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 24 units (one semester) of credit. Applicants with a Graduate Diploma or Bachelor degree with Honours in a cognate discipline may be eligible for up to 48 units (one year) of credit.

Places are limited in each study-destination country. Applicants will be ranked on the following criteria:

ANU offers rank adjustments for a number of adjustment factors, including for high achievement in nationally strategic senior secondary subjects and for recognition of difficult circumstances that students face in their studies. Rank adjustments are applied to Bachelor degree applicants with an ATAR at or above 70. Points are awarded in accordance with the approved schedules, and no more than 15 points (maximum 5 subject/performance-based adjustments, maximum 10 equity-based adjustments and maximum 5 Elite Athlete adjustments) will be awarded. • Admission to a Doctor of Philosophy program is normally granted to applicants holding a Master by research degree or a Bachelor degree with First Class Honours or Second Class Honours Division A. Admission can be granted to applicants who demonstrate a background equivalent to these qualifications.

• 10 years of diplomatic experience or equivalent professional experience with public service or civil society organisations that focus on international, transnational or global affairs.

• All applicants must meet the University’s English Language Admission Requirements for Students

To be admitted to the Master of Philosophy in Applied Epidemiology program you will be required to have an Australian Bachelor Degree with at least upper second class honours or its international equivalent, or a Graduate Diploma or Master Degree with a significant research thesis component.

You may be granted admission if you can demonstrate that you have a background equivalent to these qualifications, which may include publication of relevant research in peer review journals and professional experience.

It is highly desirable that applicants have at least two years of previous work experience in health or public health. Admission to the program is extremely competitive and suits doctors, nurses, public health scientists, veterinarians, and environmental health officers, who have some postgraduate training and work experience.

(a) a minimum of 5 years' work experience in a role that has responsibility for organization-level or public, private or NGO sector-wide regulatory system design and/or monitoring and compliance and/or enforcement (an employer statement of service and evidence of the work experience will be required); or

(b) a minimum of 10 years' work experience in one or more roles at ANZSCO Skill Level 1. These roles need not relate directly to regulation and/or governance.  Most occupations at ANZSCO Skill Level 1 have a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification. At least five years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1)

·        Applicants will be expected to submit a portfolio, and participate in an interview process as detailed on the 3A Institute website (www.3ainstitute.org); and

·        a Bachelor degree with honours or international equivalent, or higher qualification, and GPA of 5/7; or

·        A Graduate Diploma of Applied Cybernetics or equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5/7; or

·        A Bachelor degree or international equivalent with a minimum GPA of 5/7 and a minimum of 3 years full-time, relevant work experience; or

·        GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test), completed no more than 5 years before the time of application, with a minimum score of 600 (minimum 5.0 in Analytical Writing) and a minimum of 3 years full-time, relevant work experience; or

·        GRE General test, completed no more than 5 years before the time of application, with a minimum score of 155 for Verbal Reasoning, 155 for Quantitative Reasoning and 4.0 in Analytical Writing and a minimum of 3 years full-time, relevant work experience; or

Applicants who have completed a degree in a relevant discipline may be eligible to receive credit in line with the ANU Graduate Coursework Award Rules towards their Master of Applied Cybernetics degree.
