Pros & Cons
The positive encouragement and supportive environment allow me to do my best work.
Everyone is super friendly! There's so much support around especially as a Protege.
Myob is the leader in the IT industry. You will have a chance to learn the newest technology, to get involved in a large project, and to work with the top person in the industry. This company offers a great flexibility to employees, flexible working hours, work from home, generous leave, etc. MYOB values the differences between people, endeavour to create an equal opportunity for male and female, and for people comes from different countries.
Inclusive culture, accommodating workspace and people.
The freedom and resources to get better at the position I am in.
Probably the travel but that is more of a problem on my end.
When given so much freedom it can be hard to know which way to go. Fortunately, there are plenty of people happy to answer questions to help you find out.
Only been here a month so can't say I've seen anything negative so far.
When awesome people leave and join other companies.
The transition from acceleration -> crew rotations -> associate is very manual and not well supported. The individual graduate has to find their own way and sometimes it's a hit and miss where they end up.

The graduate program can be longer here than at other companies because you get the opportunity to explore a little more. As it is self-directed I suspect that if you wanted to move through it fast you could, but I didn't try.
MYOB runs a program to recruit more women into technical roles (the DevelopHer program) and also provides other pathways for people to move into roles that they are interested in.
As a Protégé I perform a learning, service and supporting role within product development. Under the guidance of my mentors, I will be learning how to develop and support quality software the MYOB way as well as live their core values.
The manager of the graduate program is fantastic - great at giving feedback and very insightful at understanding who you are to help you find where you want to be.
The office is a lovely converted warehouse, nice design. Parts of it can be a little cold at times, but mostly it's pretty good. Dress code is pretty casual for developers - jeans and t-shirts and hoodies.
It was quite an involved process with more steps than expected, though upon reflecting this promotes a good workplace culture as each applicant is appropriately screened.
Some of the external training providers that MYOB partners with wouldn't be my first pick, but the internal training I've done has been amazing. We had an incredible workshop on giving and receiving feedback which dramatically improved my communication skills and allowed me to search out feedback that created rapid improvement in my technical skills.
Very flexible, as long as you put in your hours they're very easy going in terms of working from home, sick days (very supportive), flexible start and finish times!
