Pros & Cons

  • Supportive managers, friendly team, flexible start/finish times
  • Everyone is very welcoming and want you to succeed.
  • The flexibility of work hours is simply amazing. The benefits to your health not having to wake up and panic + rush out the door in the morning can't be overstates in my opinion. It really makes anything you need to do outside of work so much easier to factor into your week when you know you can work around your commitments.
  • Learning new things, feeling like the project/s that I am working on are important and meaningful.
  • The ability to up-skill easily and move around and try different projects.
  • So many opportunities and areas for growth
  • A lot of sitting at screens
  • Prior disconnect from industry standard wages (rectified somewhat now)
  • I haven't really had any truly negative experiences yet, I think the only negativity I've had was regarding some of the ways policy was conveyed. I felt like it was a little bit babying, like I wasn't capable of understanding basic rules. But that was from outside of my working team so was a very small aspect of my experience here.
  • Work pace can sometimes vary
  • The corporate culture can be a little uptight. Less agile than other smaller software companies.
  • You can't tell people what you're working on due to security clearance

Previously a time based structure, recently more junior employees have been showing initiative and being rewarded for it with opportunities and recognition which is great to see. As with most aspects of life however, you will always be given more opportunities if you are social and make connections.

Everyone is friendly and approachable. Most teams have drinks after work on Fridays. Occasionally there are pizza lunches. The higher-ups try to keep everyone informed about company direction at every level, all the way from the top to the bottom.

Really nice offices, pretty views with windows and a lot of light. Dress code is very flexible, most of the coders switch between very formal on some days to jeans and a t-shirt on others. So long as you don't look scruffy the office is happy with whatever you wear.

There were inital assessments, which were a little challenging. They definitely made you think, but nothing to be worried about. Then a phone interview that was very relaxed, although I was nervous, the interviewer was so lovely and understanding. The face-to-face interview made me very nervous, but the interviewers were so welcoming and friendly. The whole experience was great!

Great graduate salary, recently revamped their remuneration and have been updating to match industry standard which is great. Still a little shoehorned based on years of experience rather than skillset.

Induction is very good insight into what working at the company will be like. Formal training is quite tedious to go through, but hands on training is fun

Work Hours
Work hours are very flexible and help me achieve a work/life balance. We only need to be in the office between the hours of 10am and 4pm. Otherwise the hours are flexible. Alternatively, we employees could work on an RDO arrangement. This means they must work 8 hours instead of 7.6 hours to build up. Once they work enough days overtime, employees can take a rostered day off.

I haven't seen much other than the standard done by most companies nowadays of "Use reusable stuff and don't waste paper" etc. There haven't been any green initiatives that I can think of.
